Writing is synonymous with reading; “Once a writer always a reader." I still have to come across a writer who is not a voracious reader.
I started reading paperback novels when I was in the elementary grades. In high school, I was already reading Barbara Cartland while my classmates were reading Mills and Boon. When I see a plain looking cover or an unusual exterior, I am compelled to borrow or buy the book.
Unlike some people, I don’t have my own library though. I always passed on the book to my friends if I found it a good read. I didn’t want good books, whether pocketbooks or textbooks, gathering dust in some corner of my house, especially if they are worthy to be shared; I want them read too by other people.
I know some of you feel the same way like I do. If you have old books and you want to share these with others, you can do so by selling them at a minimal prize or just giving them away for free.
It is not easy though to Sell Textbooks or pocketbooks because of many reasons. This problem is solved now; all you have to do is to sell these books back to this site and earn money in the process. You don’t have to worry about shipping fees as there are available pre-paid shipping labels for you. Your postage fees will also be refunded if you sell $10 worth of books.
This way, you would be able to share your used books and also get the best possible prices for them.
I agree completely on writing and reading and the correlation. But good books? I keep them. I may lend them, but if they're good, I want them to be mine always. I may even passionately recommend them -- in fact, I do that a lot! That way they're shared ... but I still get to have them to read, re-read, at will.
ReplyDeleteThe book I'm recommending now is "Wrestling With the Goddess." Great, inspiring book on the power of relentless perseverance and family support -- the author is challenged, but achieves so much!
Hello Liz,
ReplyDeleteGood point! Thanks for the visit, I'll try to buy that book thanks for the recommendation.
Happy blogging.
You are absolutely correct - the writing pen and the printed page are unpartable friends.
ReplyDeleteTo read books is to enlighten your mind.
Are all books worth you time?
No, only the enduring books - those books that have lived through time's amazing lay are worthy of careful and diligent study. Only the great books are worth buying and how can we part with these books? Can we part with "Nicomachean Ethics", "War and Peace", "Fathers and Sons", "Euclid's Elements"? No, this is impossible but sharing, yes, we can.
Can a Barbara Cartland match these few lines - "Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! Rage, blow you cataracts and hurricanes, spout till you have drenched our steeples, drowned the cocks! You sulphurous and thought-executing fires, vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts, singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder, strike flat the thick rotundity o' the world! Crack nature's moulds, all germens spill at once that make ingrateful man!"
These lines were by that master of words - the great author - the magician of language "Shakespeare".
I've been keeping books for donkeys years. When we decided to move I sorted through them and I now have only one set of bookshelves in my living room to display books instead of two. Actually that's not quite true as there are some other odd shelves with books as well, but only one dedicated piece of furniture. You've now inspired another blog so I may take a photo of that to post up, and then I'll tell you what I've done with all my other books.
ReplyDeleteHello Jean,
ReplyDeleteOf course. I am excited to read your new post soon. Thanks for the visit.
i keep all my books. i lend them too but i make sure i have them back. i read and re-read my books. my dream is to win the lotto and buy all the books at power books. agree that reading = writing. the more you read, the better you are at writing.
ReplyDeleteI love reading and in as much as I want to share it with others, I also wanted to keep some for myself.
ReplyDeleteI tried to keep those books that mean priceless for me, not just the content but maybe because someone gave it to me as a gift or I bought it through my hard earned savings.
Hi desperate blogger,
ReplyDeleteThat's a good practice-re reading them. I did that with some books too. Thanks for the visit and happy blogging.
Hi Mary,
Yes, as a gift, you should keep it. I guess you have a great collection now. Happy blogging.
