The Perfect Lady

This is an entry to the song-writing contest at Helium.com. Unluckily, I lost, lol...but it was fun composing it.

That gorgeous lady standing over there,
Yes, that's my wife, I swear.
She looks young I know, but she's over 42.
She's my inspiration you see,
The guiding star in my life.

She believes in me.
Even when others cease to be.
Her sunny side-up-eggs are not perfect.
My shirts, she can't even iron well.

The dirty clothes are all in one deck.
She gets all weepy watching soaps,
Afraid of the dark and creepy shadows,
she screams when she sees a harmless lizard.
And goes all mushy when she reads a book.
But mind you, this lady is mighty swell.

I love her just the way she is.
An angel from above who made life worth living.
I'd give up everything if she continues to exist.
But now she's sick on my bed and it's time to repay.
The love she unselfishly shared with me.

Have you ever met a perfect lady in this lifetime?
I did, she's my friend, my lover and my wife.

A person is perfect for you, as long as you love her, no matter what her imperfections are.

  1. Sweet. The picture goes well with it, too. Reminds me a little bit of the song "Honey" from back in the 1970s.

  2. Hi Holly,

Thanks, this was intended as a song. I still don't have the melody...lol...soon.

  3. seriously!, its a good thing and sweet moment.:)

  4. Hi Ever,

Yep, supersweet..lol...how many are like this , these days.

  5. What a sweet song, indeed! Shame on them for not awarding you top prize. They're just jealous. xo

  6. he he he, that's what I thought so too, Heather...he he he...

  7. Thanks, Ever. Will sent the email now. Best regards.

  8. Who wrote this? This is a very nice poem. Witty, candid, funny yet so heartwarming.

  9. Hi Bingkee,

He he he, thanks.I composed it for the song writing contest at helium.com, but did not win...he he he

  10. I like the lyrics. Written without affectation and the usual sappiness common in what passes for songs these days. But it still needs a melody!

  11. Hi Jena,
I like this song. Hope you'll get the melody for it soon. Sorry, you didn't win.

Lots of things have happened since I last emailed you. But I promise to write you a very long one soon to fill you in on what's going on with me.

    Have a great week.

    Love and hugs,

  12. I think it can do well simply as a poem - I love it! Unselfish love. I hope I really get to meet a man who'd readily love me for my imperfections and take care of me when I'm sick.

But.. oh, well.. reality bites! I can't have everything! :-)

  13. Hi Jan,

Thanks, I'm still looking for the melody...but I won't be giving up. All the best.

  14. Hello Tashabud,

Thanks, even if I did not win, I still enjoyed composing it. I know it would eventually become a song. I'm not giving up. It's part of my bucket list...he he he...any musial composer out there, who would like to help me out? lol

    All the best.

  15. Hi Gem,

I'm sure he'll come along, or he's already here??? he he he... someone who will love even your imperfections, that's what we call TRUE LOVE....yehey....
